It was very interesting to hear Doug Anstaett, Kansas Press Association, and Jean Maneke, filling in for Doug Crews of the Missouri Press association, at the January 6 meeting of the KCPress club. Jean wore an orange "Govern in Sunshine" bracelet. Subsequently, I ordered five of the plastic bracelets for myself from http://www.sunshineweek.org/sunshineweek/toolkits for myself. I've already given one to another journalist, and will be happy to share.

Southwest Missouri has been hit very hard by ice and winter weather. People are still staying the night in our newsroom. I have friends who work at stations in both Kansas City and St. Louis, and they say they had no idea how bad the situation really is...

let me say, it's BAD.

And since we could get more snow this weekend, we are all preparing for more problems.

Just thought I'd share

Why is there only one posting?

Maybe the group should have rotating contributors or at least serve as a hub for member's blogs.

So what's happening with the Kansas City Press Club? It would great to see some updated content here.

Please see our Web site at www.spj.org/kcpress for the latest Press Club news.

Thanks Dick. I've checked out the site before, but I think it would be cool to see a more active blog. I see you are at KUJH; I'm about to start graduate school at KU for print journalism, so I'm sure we'll run into each other sooner than later.
